Data Engineer Intern (Medical AI - Image Processing)

The Role:

We are seeking a junior data engineer who is excited to build reliable data foundations for leveraging medical images in creating AI models deployed in real-world scenarios.

The internship is designed to last 6 months, with a possibility for a full-time offer after.

What will you do (responsibilities):

  • Build and maintain data pipelines for current and new datasets (ingestion → processing → storage → access), including data anonymization.
  • Explore datasets and identify deficiencies (quality issues, gaps, inconsistencies) and propose actionable improvements.
  • Design and implement a clear database structure for data categorization and data mining (schema, metadata, traceability).
  • Collaborate with our team to improve and iterate clinical AI models through better data and dataset curation.

What are we looking for (requirements):

  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Experience or strong interest in database handling (e.g. SQL/NoSQL).
  • Familiarity with data analysis techniques for images and video.
  • Experience with Computer Vision and development of AI/ML models.
  • Studying toward or completed MSc in computer science, Data Science, or similar (or equivalent experience).
  • We are interested in candidates graduating soon (finishing Masters in 2026) or who have graduated recently, who can commit full-time and are based in Switzerland or the Zurich area.

Good to haves:

  • C/C++ exposure.
  • Self-Supervised Learning, Domain Adaption and Transfer Learning familiarity.
  • Awareness of data security standards.
  • Previous exposure to medical data or regulated environments.
